This is a flat tray ceiling painted to appear to have depth and movement. The colors are inspired by the crystal pieces embedded in the chandelier. Click here to see the before image.
The entire area including the walls, trim, and ceiling are done in a faux finish. The walls in done in yellow, the trim done in a rich wood finish, and the ceiling was hand painted gold with veining run through it. Finally the medallion was hand painted on the ceiling to match the iron work done in the front door not shown in this picture.
